Born in Pascagoula, MS, and reared in Mobile, AL, Jimmy was influenced
early on by the mystique of New Orleans. He visited often as a child and came to live in the French Quarter at eighteen. His first public performance was literally on Bourbon Street, and he went on to do a long stint at the Bayou Room as a solo artist. Jimmy had New Orleans in his blood long before he discovered the subtropical bliss of Key West, and he has remained true to both enclaves of escapism since his personal "discovery" of the virtues and vices of both magical places. Jimmy has always
maintained that his concept of Margaritaville is a state of mind, not a specific geographical location. Margaritaville exists in the heart and soul of the adventurous spirit: thus, for Jimmy it made perfect sense to establish a Margaritaville in the southernmost point in the United States - Key West - as well as the northernmost port of the Caribbean - New Orleans. It is up
to every adventurous spirit to determine where their own Margaritaville lies.
